Hippotherapy

Hippotherapy is a physical therapy session performed while the child is on horseback. The therapist walks alongside, directing the movement of the horse or changing the position of the child causing the child to work on muscle control, balance, coordination, range of motion, strength and pre-walking skills. Even children who can’t sit independently can do hippotherapy, if the therapist decides he/she is appropriate.

Hippotherapy services are provided at Freedom Ride, a NARHA-accredited facility and non-profit organization providing hippotherapy and therapeutic riding for the special needs population in central Florida.
